Park Antiques has been run by Brian O'Connell since 2000, although the shop has been trading for nearly 30 years, during which time it has acquired an excellent reputation for quality and service.
For the majority of that time, Brian, a master craftsman with over 25 years experience, restored, polished and brought to showroom condition the furniture sold by the previous owners. When they decided to retire, it was a natural progression for him to acquire the business as a going concern. He has been able to apply a lifetime of renovation experience and knowledge to acquiring genuine pieces, which can be sympathetically restored in the traditional way where necessary, so that customers can be assured of the integrity and authenticity of the furniture they are buying.
In addition to selling fine period furniture, Brian is able to offer a full traditional antique furniture repair, restoration, polishing and upholstery service, as well as providing advice on interior layout and design. He is now able to offer a selected number of contemporary pieces and demonstrate how to combine antique furniture and numerous accessories, taken from a variety of periods, with contemporary decoration and styling.
In 2003, Brian was joined in the shop by Les Cousins of Beacon Antiques, (formerly in Burley in Wharfedale). Les specialises in quality 18th/19th century porcelain and ceramics which complements Brian's furniture and provides customers and visitors to the shop with a wide and varied selection of antiques from which to choose.
